Yesterday I graded myself on my weight loss, fitness and wellness goals for 2014. This morning I turn my red pen to my 2014 Everyday Beauty Goals. As with everything in life, I can do better. Some goals I achieved while others need more work or outright effort.

2014 EVERYDAY BEAUTY GOALS

Everyday Beauty Goal 1: Wear lipstick when I leave the house
Grade: A

Success! I do this everyday…even when going to the gym. I recently diversified my colors by adding plums and some lovely reds to my pinks and brown hues.

In 2014, I started a lotion routine to help fight my sagging skin. My lack of consistency knocked my grade from an A down to a B.

Everyday Beauty Goal 2: Improve skin’s health and appearance
Grade: B

This is a biggie as it helps with keeping my skin hydrated and stimulates collagen and elastin creation. Why is that important? Loose skin! When you lose a lot of weight, doesn’t necessarily snap back. To prevent or limit going under the knife, I’m doing what I can to tighten my skin.

Slow weight loss, drinking water, diet and weight training all help in promoting healthy skin as well as health in general. But it’s adding to this routine that’s problematic for me. I need to work on consistency when it comes to exfoliating, and using lotions and a sun-screen.

Yep, I'm playing with lipstick! Going clockwise, starting in the upper left: Naked Grape, Valentina, Vivid Crush and Velvet Plum.

Everyday Beauty Goal 3: Experiment/try different make-up looks
Grade: C-

Barely a passing grade. I experiment on occasion. I really need to learn more about make-up, especially different application styles for the eyes.

Everyday Beauty Goal 4: Wear more colorful clothes (especially bold colors)
Grade: A

Other than my workout leggings (nearly all black), my closet is a color explosion. Since my weight loss makeover, I’m much more focused on trying different styles as well as those bold colors. Also, I’ve recently started making a move to adding white to my wardrobe – considered taboo if you’re overweight. As my confidence grows, I’m finding that fashion is fun and not something to hide my flaws.

Wearing Julie Page's Champagne and Sandy Peach eye shadow, Fuji baked bronzer, Valentina on the lips. Add to the mix a hot leopard print scarf and bright red coat, I'm just exploding with color!

Everyday Beauty Goal 5: Start dressing more girlie.
Grade: B+

At least I’m not wearing my workout clothes all day long like I use to. I’m wearing dresses, heels, and make-up more often. I’m also accessorizing my look with purses, jewelry and scarves. But that’s usually when I leave the house. To make this a habit, I need to do it when I’m at home too. Besides, my hubby tends to have a big smile for me when I look more feminine than when I wear sweats, headbands and moisture-wicking tanks.

2014 Everyday Beauty Conclusions
Clearly the lessons of my weigh loss makeover took hold and I’m making a concerted effort to project how good I feel with my appearance. Hmmm…maybe it’s time for another make-up master class and fashion makeover with my Glam Squad.
