Fall’s Here: Time For A Facial Routine

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

How do I know fall is here? Right on cue there’s a chill to the evening air, the leaves are turning color and my skin is drying out. Once the weather turns cooler my hands and legs become itchy and flaky. There was never enough lotion in the world to stop the itching. Of course I’d always start applying lotion consistently when the painful cracks appeared.

Thankfully my fear of loose skin kicked my daily care routine into high gear. I’m much more proactive, applying lotion daily and staying hydrated (water really is the key to great skin!). Unfortunately I was so focused on all the areas with loose skin (my body) that my facial routine went out the window.

So it shouldn’t be that big of a shock when I woke up this morning with a dry, flaky nose and forehead. Ugh!

Immediately I looked up the hours of my local day spa. While I love the idea of going to a spa for a facial, I’m not a big fan of the execution. Hot steam blowing on my face makes me feel like I can breathe. I really do hate it. Nonetheless I’m long overdue.

But that got me thinking about home facials. Why go to a pricey spa when you can treat yourself, right?

Thankfully make-up guru Lisa Eldridge has a video demonstrating her facial routine. She goes over various facial care products (at different price points) and 3 techniques you can use.

I think I’ll start tonight with coconut oil. I’ve heard of the wonders of coconut oil for deep cleaning and massaging your face. I figured I’ll start there since I have loads of it in my kitchen pantry.

Carving out time each night to treat myself seems easy enough. Putting my mobile down 20 minutes earlier each night isn’t that much of a sacrifice for healthier skin.
