Conspiracy To Keep Me Out Of The Gym

I can’t prove it, but I suspect these 2 conspired to keep me at home and away from the gym this week.

After a week of taking it easy so my ankle can start healing, I was ready to hit the gym. Albeit, in a very gentle way.

So what does life toss at me? First up, a lethargic 17-year-old cat who refused food for 2 days.

Spider has kidney disease. We know at some point we’re going to have to make the “quality of life” decision. A few days before kitty stopped eating we noticed his jumping skills declined sharply over the last few weeks. Missing easy jumps. Falling off furniture (and not landing on feet).

The next up he refused food and instead just wanted water. More and more water.

After a visit with the vet (Yeah! All blood work showed no deterioration!) his appetite came back like a demon. He got stronger, which translated into better balance. It’s looking more like he was in pan from arthritis in his back legs and lower spine. So now we’re looking at pain meds to help him through these episodes.

Crisis over.

So time for the gym.

Not so fast. Time for pet crisis #2.

Our Old English Sheepdog started throwing up. This lasted for about 5 hours. Then the diarrhea hit.

Peekabu started throwing up 8 hours after her breakfast. Her stomach never emptied. Thankfully the x-rays showed no blockage. It’s looking like a slightly inflamed pancreas. The only change for her was a new doggie daycare – one with all day play for our high energy girl. Our vet suspects an over abundance of treats triggered this episode.

So how could I go to the gym with a dog doing her best impersonation of Linda Blair (from both ends!). Nope. I had to watch her like a hawk.

It’s been 3 days and she still isn’t 100%. While her appetite back, Peekie’s energy level still is lacking. She’s resting now. So that means I slip away to the gym.

Nope. I’ve caught my 3th cold this season. Ugh!

So I’m convalescing in bed with Peekabu. Fingers crossed that both of us will be up and about in a day or so.

Sure enjoy your posts, Dot. Have been watching your YouTube channel, and now found your blog! You’re a great educator! Much appreciated. One area I’d love to see a post is the week long fast you’re doing. I too have heard about the regeneration of new cells that comes with an extended fast. I think you’re in the middle of it this week. I hope you’re doing well. You’re in my thoughts and prayers as you endure!

    • Hi Lils,

I’m on Day 2 today. I’m doing short posts near the end of each day with a recap of how it went. I posted day 1 yesterday. Thanks for watching the videos.

Dot I just found yo on YouTube tonight! I’m so excited! You’re awesome! I would like to know the name of the low carb powdered sugar, if you don’t mind. I would also like to congratulate you on your tremendous weight loss!

Take collagen! I take Youtheory advanced 1,2 and 3 the same thing happened to both of my tendons. I think it was from taking cipero for a UTI.

I take the same collagen- Youtheory 1,2&3- and rarely have any joint pain- it’s pretty magical stuff. Make sure you get all 3, the 1&3 is more for hair & skin, the 1,2&3 has all that and for joints & ligaments too. I’m new to your posts Dot- but wanted to tell you what an inspiration you are! Love the recipes too- thanks for taking us along on your journey. 🙂
