Today is Day 1 of my 30-Day No Alcohol Challenge. To kick off things off, I decided to create a new playlist of the best drinking songs. Hey, if I can’t drink the stuff why not listen to songs about it while working out. I’m off to a pretty good start with a nice variety of music styles – from swing to blues to Irish folk.

The list isn’t complete. It lacks Reggae. I need something other than UB40’s Red Red Wine. I welcome suggestions from the Peanut Gallery.

40 Oz to Freedom – Sublime
All I Wanna Do – – Sheryl Crow
American Honky Tonk Bar Association – Garth Brooks
Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers – ZZ Top
Brass Monkey – Beastie Boys
Drunk Daddy – Cherry Poppin’ Daddies
Drunken Lazy Bastards – The Pogues
Drunken Lullabies – Flogging Molly
Gimme Three Steps – Lynyrd Skynyrd
Gin House Blues – Nina Simone
Hey Bartender – Blues Brothers
Honky Tonk Women – Rolling Stones
Hurricane Drunk – Florence & The Machine
One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer – John Lee Hooker
Seven Drunken Nights – The Dubliners
Somebody Put Something in My Drink – The Ramones
Sunday Morning Coming Down – Johnny Cash
The Boys Are Back In Town – Thin Lizzy
Too Drunk to F$#k – Nouvelle Vague

Taking The No Alcohol 30-Day Challenge

Since I’ve hit a plateau I decided to do a no alcohol challenge. I’m starting on August 1 – just to make it easier to track. Plus it gives me time to get rid of the bottle of white wine in my kitchen.

Not that I drink heavily, but I saw my alcohol intake go way up in July. I hit a crescendo last week with the celebration of Mr. Dottotrot’s e-book release.  Up until this month’s festivities, I limited my alcohol intake to twice a month. And no more than 2 drinks on those days.

This should jump-start my weight loss. After all, alcohol is mostly sugar. And sugar is a very bad carb.

Passion of the (Tazo) Tea

taso teaConfession time. I miss my SodaStream. And there are times I miss it more than my husband (sorry honey). While in Arizona I now have to buy my fizzy water. I have to tell you, the choices are slim pickings.  Most are overly sweet. So I’m stuck with Arrowhead. It’s fine. It will do.

What I’m also missing is my ice tea. Arizona water is a bit hard – you don’t drink it – so I haven’t bothered to make a batch of tea. Sigh.

Today as I was picking up a few bottles of fizzy water, I passed the Starbucks inside the grocery store. The light bulb went off. They have ice tea, but not just any tea. Tazo Passion Tea – my favorite!  So I purchased a box of tea bags and got a Trenta of delicious Passion (unsweetened of course). Delish!

I also picked up some unfizzy water for glorious tea making later today.

All is right with the world.
