I weighed-in on Saturday and got a happy surprise. I’m only up 1 lbs. Thanks to my trainer’s workouts, my legs are so sore. I also felt pretty bloated this week too thanks to this week’s bout of constipation. So imagine my surprise when the scale only showed a 1 lbs. gain.

To help with the constipation, I want to get more walking in. I’m tired of waiting for slightly warmer, less windy and rainy weather to appear. Winter is here and I need to suck it up and get my butt outside. Besides, walking should help with my sore legs.  I’m shooting for 6-miles today.

As for my mini-goal of weighing between 190 – 195 lbs. by December 31, I’ve got 10 days left. Of course I’d love to lose 6 lbs. by year’s end, but that’s just not realistic. But I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed to drop at least a couple of pounds by then.


My Legs Are Killing Me — Time To Workout!

It’s been three days since my first hike of the season and my legs are still killing me. Yesterday’s spin class didn’t help either. Today my trainer scheduled a lower body workout and afterwards I’m planning on a short run followed by a 3-mile walk.

What are my poor legs to do?

I knew my knee injury set me back, but I had no idea it was this bad. I think my legs are working at 80% of where I was before the injury. My trainer warned me it would take time to rebuild my strength, but yowza! Yes, I know the sore legs shows progress. I just can’t let the soreness get to me.

I’ve got some light stretches this morning and the ice pack is on standby. Once I’m home from the gym, I’ll lightly ice up my hamstrings and quads. The key for me is minimizing the sitting. It’s just too dang painful to stand up or start moving around. I can’t even face the stairs.

Yoga seems to help as well. There’s a class at my gym later this afternoon. I hate to travel back and forth from the gym, but active recovery will increase my circulation, which in turn speeds up my muscle recovery.

Also, a little pedicure this afternoon won’t hurt either!

My knee’s mended and the strep throat is gone. The time is right to take on Spartan’s 30 Burpees for 30 Days Challenge. I started the challenge back in January, but a week into it I tore my meniscus.

I was going to start the challenge April 1. After a great muscle workout yesterday, I did 30 burpees as soon as I got home. Presto — March 24 became day one.

Some Days You Just Need A Little TLC

All hail Spider, my furry evil overlord.

As predicted, today I feel worse. My muscles were very stiff getting out of bed. Maximum soreness hit as I was due for my second session with trainer John. He did a great job loosening me up. The workout felt good but I was exhausted. Afterward I only desired a warm comfy place to rest. My allergies kept me up last night, so with the muscle soreness, the workout and the lack of sleep, I just wanted to crawl back into bed.

Before I could head for my bed, I had a little visitor. Spider (my evil overlord cat) decided to jump into my lap in a rare moment of sweetness. He kneaded my lap, belly and chest, purring contently the entire time. He would nuzzle my chin, neck and give me soft little head butts. It was as if he knew I was hurting and wanted me to feel better. For 15 minutes I was in heaven.

Then little shit promptly bit my hand (braking the skin) and ran off. Well that woke me up and I ended up doing some gardening.

Perhaps that was really the evil overlord’s plan all the time.
