Yesterday I felt a surge of energy coursing through me. I’ve read that you feel more energetic during a fast. I have to say this is the first time it’s happened to me. Hoping to go for a walk, I was thwarted by the rainy weather. So I turned my attention to my house. Mounds of laundry, dirty floors, clutter and dust – none of it stood a chance against me.
Energy Level Goes To 11
I spent a chunk of the day cleaning the basement, where the husband and I are setting up a very small home gym. We’re not buying machines. We’re using resistance bands with the possibility of buying dumbbells and kettle bells. I planned to do some work with the bands yesterday, but it turns out I got a different type of workout.
Most of the day I was flying up and down two flights of stairs. I was either carrying laundry or heavy boxes…so I got my weight training in without the bands.
From when I got out of bed at 7:00 am until 8:30 pm, I was always in motion. But once I sat down to do a little reading at the end of the day, intense exhaustion hit me. I tried watching a little TV with the hubby, but by 9:00 pm I was fading fast.
Fasting Success Tip: Keep Busy
I planned a few projects for my fast to take my mind off of food – putting together a few photo albums, cleaning house, setting up the tiny gym and refinishing a vanity.
All with the idea that keeping busy takes my mind off of eating.
So far it works. I didn’t even think about food once. Sure my tummy grumbled a few times. But water or hot tea took care of it pretty quickly.
Next Challenge – The Real Hunger Fight
I was surprised that I didn’t feel that hungry on Day 2. But as I write this on the morning of Day 3, I already know today I’m going into Bizzaro World. Normally I don’t remember my dreams. Well I remember all of them from last night. All were weird and about delicious foods. No hopping out of bed this morning. Instead I was groggy, low energy and feeling terribly hungry.
I’m going into Day 3 of my fast to do battle…with myself.
